Owner, Audiologist
Dr. Jill Nesham is a native Eastern Iowan, growing up on a farm right outside Cascade, Iowa. It was there that she learned the value of hard work from her family and teachers. After high school she studied at The University of Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honors and a double major in Speech & Hearing Science and Psychology. She decided to pursue her passion for audiology and earned both a Master of Arts as well as a Doctorate in the field.
Dr. Jill is a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, the International Hearing Society, the American Tinnitus Association, and the Iowa Association of Hearing Healthcare Professionals. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Jill is passionate about taking hearing healthcare to a whole new level. Call or stop in and experience the difference!
Katia Burdick
Audiology Assistant
Katia Burdick earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech & Hearing Sciences from Augustana College and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Katia has been a pediatric speech-language pathologist for over 17 years and is the owner of a small private practice. She has always had an interest in audiology, both from her undergraduate studies and from her husband, Dan, who has worn hearing aids since childhood. Katia loves being a “boy mom” to Hudson and Reece, as well as a “dog mom” to Violet, Stuart, and Brix. She enjoys fitness, coffee dates, and singing on the Praise Team at church. Katia is thrilled to be a part-time audiology assistant with the Professional Hearing Solutions by Dr. Jill team and can’t wait to meet you!
Bailey Thorp
Audiology Assistant
Bailey Thorp is an Audiology Assistant and a current student in Speech and Hearing Science. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with an emphasis in Studio Arts, from the University of Iowa. After working as a Child Care Director for ten years, Bailey discovered a passion for helping individuals improve their communication and decided to pursue a career in Speech and Hearing Science. She plans to earn her master’s degree and is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that helps patients achieve their communication goals.
Bailey lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband and their three dogs, who certainly keep life entertaining. When she isn’t working or studying, you’ll likely find her with a good book, tending to her garden, or planning her next adventure. She has traveled to 13 countries across four continents and enjoys learning about new cultures, meeting new people, and experiencing different perspectives.
Bailey believes exceptional patient care begins with kindness, empathy, genuine connection, and meaningful communication. She strives to make every patient feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the moment they walk through the door. She is excited to continue growing as a clinician while making a positive impact on the lives of the patients and families she serves.
Abbey Maiers
Patient Care Coordinator
Abbey is committed to making every person she meets feel valued, comfortable, and supported, a principle that guided her studies in Diagnostic Radiology, where she developed both the technical expertise and compassionate approach essential to delivering exceptional care. Driven by a lifelong desire to help others, she carries this passion into both her personal and professional life. Beyond her professional background, Abbey embraces her inner geek through gaming and all things science fiction, bringing enthusiasm and authenticity to everything she does. She is also passionate and knowledgeable about beauty and art, and enjoys singing as well as dancing, having performed at a semi-professional level. She loves working here with all her coworkers and finds it a fun, positive, and rewarding environment.
Alexis Technik
Patient Care Coordinator
Alexis Technik was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA, and has always enjoyed connecting with people and helping others. Before joining Professional Hearing Solutions, she spent 15 years in transportation recruiting, helping people find careers that fit their goals. While she loved that work, she discovered a new passion in healthcare, where she has the opportunity to make a difference every day.
As the Patient Care Coordinator, Alexis is often the first person patients meet when they visit the office. She loves welcoming patients with a friendly smile and helping them feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the doors. It is rewarding for her to be part of a team that is helping people hear better, reconnect with loved ones, and enjoy a better quality of life.
Outside of work, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their two energetic boys, listening to live music, and getting lost in a good book. She is grateful to be part of the Professional Hearing Solutions team and looks forward to making every patient’s visit a positive, comfortable experience from the very beginning.
Jade Deadman-Kelley
Certified Audiology Assistant
Jade Deadman-Kelley is a certified audiology assistant in Iowa. She obtained her certification through Nova Southeast University. Jade handles hearing device cleanings, servicing and repairs, as well as tech support. Jade is a mom of two, grandma of one, and has many “adopted” family members, including her two current rescue dogs. She and her husband enjoy their hot rod trips and motorcycle rides and she always has a story to tell! She has always had a passion for assisting others and loves her career in hearing healthcare. Being able to make a positive impact and leave you with a smile on your face is what she lives for!
